Surprising Crisis

This morning a new and surprising crisis occurred. While ministers were focused on solving the crisis about the explosion, a terrorist kidnapped Angela Merkel, the prime minister of Germany.

During Committee Session 7; as ministries of health, food and agriculture, economy and financial affairs had merged for a meeting; a terrorist came in with a weapon, lugging Merkel. Even though it was already obvious that the cause of the explosion was the terrorist attack, he made Merkel bear the blame of causing the explosion in Germany in order to exonerate terrorists.

Following this event Merkel was obliged to accept responsibility and at present the German government seems to bear the guilt of the explosion. As a consequence, Germany has been put under quarantine and an easy solution to the whole crisis seems to be difficult to attain.

Ece Varol and Cenk Esen, aka Ecenk: the Secretary General and Crisis Manager of ACIMGE 2016. We interviewed them to find out about some spicy behind-the-scenes information. See below what they told us.

Q: How is ACIMGE 2016 different from ACIMGE 2015?

E: First of all it is our second year so I think we are more experienced; so getting ready for it was a little bit easier and I think we are better at taking control, solving small crises that come up during the organization because we experienced a similar thing.

C: We are also much more organized, last year everyone was doing everything and now if you are the manager of this you do the stuff that you are supposed to do. For example when last year I was doing something else I was writing crises too and that was very weird but this year we are more organized.

Q: Which one is more difficult: having authority over people from your school or people from other schools?

E: I think I would definitely say having authority over people in my school because they are the people that I go to classes with, they are in my class, they see the normal Ece and now when I ask them to do something they don’t really like me being the authority or us being the authority, they don’t like receiving -I don’t want to say orders but- orders from us because we are their age, we are their friends but here we are the Secretary General, we are the Head of Crisis so it’s definitely hard having authority over them.

C: I definitely agree, I think it is hard to have authority over people from your school because they are the people you are the closest with and when you mix your social life with business life it gets pretty hard.

Q: Why do they call you “Ecenk”?

(laughs)

C: I don’t know.

E: It was probably because last year we were the two Deputy Secretary Generals so we did similar stuff and Leyla called us her little elves and our name is like “Ecenk”.

C: And also we were close friends so we were together a lot and people thought we were a couple.

E: Yeah, we live next door from each other.
